What It Sound Like?
These write-ups have been a tool that lets people connect with me other than my own music. Ideally, I wouldn’t think like a rapper while covering a song or project. I can’t always detain it. Sometimes the rapper is brought out of me. Of course, tonight’s emcee is none less.
Shout to King Merlino with his full album release. Which is what I notice from the open, it feels detailed. The beats sound like they fit a collective, but not repetitive. The songs possess variety. From the uncompromising Like A Mack, where he doesn’t tell the woman what she wants to hear. It’s a past experience, so his wife obliged to play a role. KM gives you cultural tragedy while keeping it lyrical in Kneel featuring Good DonNIE & HeavensGold. “Niggas could be making the Band, but instead they Drilled off”
He actually gave you warning shots his Golden Era start with Shadow Moon Freestyle. Let’s not ignore “I’m transparent like Bruce Jenner pop.” “Wanna war? Please withdraw your soldiers. Why cuz low key (Loki) I’m something to Marvel over.” One of my favorites is Definition, this one introduced Good DonNie, who produced the entire album. I believe it’s kinda Hip Hop signature to rap about your footwork, so Merlino gave you Fresh Nikes And Shades. Always diversifying his pen, he even rapped on a beat with a sample to something we spit on before. He takes more of a dramatic approach this time with Darkness.
King Merlino expresses that hole in his heart from losing his mother’s physical as a toddler. The state of the environment and what needs to be done to change it bursts through the rhyme. You also find an embodiment of family orientation. There’s also the battle of spiritual warfare. He’s a young OG, for real. A few other appearances include concrete verses spit by 4K Kell, plus, JW The Visionary, backgrounds from Willie_ and the poetic words spoken by HeavensGold for the right seasoning. Most heads from our time wanted to know what your story rhyme was like, Mer got that too, listen to Story Time. Before The Rhyming is what I probably play the most!
I’m grateful of the journey I been able to witness. I wanted to gather my thoughts on this piece, I saved some songs for your surprise. Overall, it’s packed with Hip Hop nutrition. I value the artist’s values. The Kings Circle is already doing NASDAQ numbers on Spotify. So, get to those other platforms and run them up too. Especially Napster, iTunes and Tidal. Thanks for staying up with me. Blessings from Yahweh!
