Top 10 Walking Dead Episodes So Far

10.) Season 6 Episode 16 Last Day On Earth

The Walking Dead has been on for an astounding 8 full seasons; 115 episodes in the phenomenon television shows very little signs of slowing down as long as you don't count the recent seasons massive drop in ratings this year. Now some of that can be attributed to cord cutting plus usual trends for shows that are in production this long;however the overwhelming majority of this can just be layed directly at the many decision makers of thus television show with too many mistakes to count, poor writing, and sometimes complete ineptitude for the job. Either way believes it or not this is not about bashing the WD instead praise some of their glory moments as I tend to count down my top 10 favorite Walking Dead episodes.

First we begin with a later season edition and by this point many would argue this particular episode climax would disqualify it from any sane person list; as it was a huge middle finger to the fans. However this is my list so deal with it The Last Day On Earth has an aura about it that most WD episodes don't ;a true element of fear. From the opening scene to the last your glued to your seat wondering if this it for your hero's as they are met with numerous obstacles along the way.

After re watching this one several times there was one thing that was clear to me; this was all about the humbling of Rick Grimes a character who at this point we have seen come through everything in the sun. He killed his best friend over his family, he's escaped from an army of cannibals, he ripped a man's throat out for Christ sakes. So it's stand to reason that at this juncture in the shows history that we would expect to see him prevail in the end and I love how the showed played on that expectation and has the episodes drags along you began to fell a certain dread and feel significantly less and less confident in the hero's.

The B plot of the episode is less compelling but not buy much while the content of this arc became very draining as it was a repeated beat throughout the season however Melissa McBride and Lennie James performances blows through all that shady writing and gives those scenes a sense of gravitas that very few can in my opinion.

Now if it isn't obvious by now I'm intentionally not giving away plot lines; even though I've given this show a bit of deserved crap; I do believe the ten episodes I will pick out over upcoming weeks are actually good television for anyone who has not given the show a try to take a 2nd look. If one thing I will be is honest; this isn't Mad Men, Breaking Bad or anything close to that level of quality even with that said it's a show that does touch on so many of the good qualities of humanity and how those are tested in mist of an apocalypse.
