Wendell Phillips Dabney -1865-1952, born in Richmond Va. the son of former slaves. The first African American city paymaster of Cincinnati, first local president of the NAACP. In 1902 he entered the world of publishing starting the Ohio Enterprise, predecessor to The Union. He also wrote Maggie L.
