If Cocaine Could Talk 3 – RJ Payne

What It Sound Like?

While you pile up on those holiday extras, I’m here to make sure you take in some substance. Despite the title, there will be no illegal plays or deadly addictions dealt here. It’s the hustle, aspiration, lethal content RJ Payne refers to as this high end product. Happens to be one of the most sought after products in the street, plus corporate. The artist proceeds to metaphorically describe himself as such. Plenty rappers aim to get brick prices for their verse, so it’s easy to relate to.

Making a pleasant return, RJ blesses All Nighters with a follow up album. With his third investment in the ICCT series, he made a bigger impact. This piece attracted star cameos we’re glad to hear from. From Philly-Hip Hop staple, Tracey Lee, Griselda Records own Westside Gunn, Paul Caine from Desert Storm and the lyrical Elzhi. Some powerful spoken word from Lady Lioness of Urban Poetics. One tune features Big Twins of Infamous Mobb, produced by DJ Skizz  (World Music Group). Might be the more sensitive joint on the album, I believe it’s the only one with a hook. The rest are straight bars of Payne!

Other well selected producers are FonkStarr of Crummie Beats from Virginia. Four Limbs across the pond in the UK, the Brooklyn producer Asethic with souls sounds. Another out of  BK is Stan Da Man,made hits for a long list of spittas. The closing track was brought yo you by P.A. Dre, all heavyweights.

You have to appreciate How Payne is able to display different angles of rap. He has bars, beat selection, flows, professionalism, and something for the gutter. Easy to notice the hard effort put in to achieve this lyrical awareness. This is a fun listen with plenty of “You heard what he saids?” The free listen link is available at YouTube, still purchase your copy of this powerful series. The love is spreading more each day, I appreciate you joining me. Blessings of the Most High to all readers.

Still Got It 2 – Mercedez Miller

What It Sound Like?

This year flew by right? With a week like this one, I see why. So much new heat from so many dope rappers who take advantage of time. It’s been endless fun hearing the material, guess I didn’t notice the calendar. Tonight it’s all about someone who only gets better with time.

Mercedez Miller revisits her previous theme, Still Got It with a complete album. Yes, she is a talented emcee, this is a great music piece overall. RAN fans know I big up the producer, as well as the artist. She made that very easy on me by producing her own tracks. Yup, she made the beats, then she slayed the beats!

Mama has a seasoned approach with SGI2, not looking for microwaved streams. Original lines, exposure of sensitive topics, her fans are here to stay. There is a lot of concern for the youth and well being of society in her music. Being able to come to terms with her own reality helps express so vividly.

I dig how versatile Mercedez is. She can rip a rapper apart, make you ampped to go out, or hit you with a tear jerker. Her flows can’t be counted, she always switches up. Keeps things exciting. There is a cool empowering and spiritual wave that comes along with this album. Everybody in the fam could enjoy this piece. With this display, it was never a question if she still got it! Follow on the socials and add her to your playlists on your favorite digital music stores.

Salutes to the passers-by, I’m loving the feedback. Blessings to you and yours from Yahweh.

Give Up The Goods (2K18) – Jamal Gasol Ft Rome Streetz

What It Sound Like?

Bringing the compact week to a close, there is one thing we are all ready for... Piff!

Our featured supplier Jamal Gasol returns connecting with Rome Streetz. An underground tyrant you can find ripping up freestyles on Rap Is Outta Control of Shade 45. Both rappers have had songs played by our Hip Hop admiral, DJ Eclipse. Tonight we're left with a Mobb Deep reminiscent instrumental touched by Camoflauge Monk. Despite his name, the signature is noticeable.

Our emcees bare their stripes on each sleeve bouncing off each other's energy. Strong lyrical content in both verses, and gritty enough for Infamous to oblige. It has only been a few days since Gasol published It's A Dirty Game, an EP joined by Lil Eto. Whether album or loosie, he stays busy releasing something for us to ride to.

GUTG 2K18  represents the force being brought in this reality rap wave. Jamal & Rome are here demanding what's their's. If you're reading this, you already like the song. This tribute to Prodigy is   one of the smokers on Clock'N that debuted in the summer. Log onto Bandcamp and pick up your copy. Show support for each artist, check for upcoming work. They're cooking up new heat as I type this.

You know I appreciate your company and feedback. Big thanks to the visitors worldwide, Yahweh bless you an yours!

Eyes On The Prize – Jamal Gasol

What It Sound Like?

Tonight we got something special. I’m not much for celebrating holidays, that don’t mean we can’t get spooky! Hip Hop is all around, can’t get enough of the sounds of the underground. I’m always proud to see our featured artist at work. Jamal Gasol drops an appetizer to the brand new release of his EP split with Lil Eto. Eyez On The Prize brings you raw visuals with a subtle touch. Each scene represents an attachment to the hustle. From the scaffolds to the stoop. As you can see, it’s hoodie weather.

So, Gasol delivers just how cold the streets could get, with an even chillier flow. One of the known beat selectors, his producer of choice this time, happens to be VDon. Yes, you’ve seen the name, you’ve heard the buzz. His tracks are sought after by some of the biggest market movers in our realm. He already knows what an artist is listening for, so the beats stand out.

I hope no one gets bored of relative success stories. I can’t bring you the top athlete in the country, nor could I tell you the next crypto currency spike. When it comes to Hip Hop and urban culture, I relate more to that. The situations Jamal explains are something plenty of us know about, hands-on. The humble spirit I am, I’d rather biggup the next person, than to hate. Salute to Mr 31, VDon, as well as Eto. It’s A Dirty Game sounds like another promising project!

Watch the vid below and be sure to go to jamalgasol.com to pick up your copy of the new album. Thank you for passing through, always welcome. Follow a blog you like, add the site to your bookmarks and favorites. Blessings from the Most High to you and yours!

Bar Brawl – Onaje Jordan X Jamal Gasol X Cocareef

What It Sound Like?

Sounds of the underground! Really hard to ignore when it is more entertaining than mainstream media. We’re in a rare era of time, the student becomes teacher. I’m happy to be a part of it. Whether writing about a song or writing one, myself.

You will enjoy some of that driving force tonight. We have a line up that has been drawing the crowds in, lately. This soul symphony laid by Onaje Jordan is the ultimate score for violent movie scenes. As he blesses us with a preview to The Diaz Brothers compilation.

Breaking the first Hennessy bottle in the Bar Brawl, is Jamal Gasol  keeping it all the way Mr 31! Never neglecting the struggle and progress from it. Watching his back, we have multi faceted, Cocareef brought that pressure with hard lines and limitless enthusiasm.

The student of the game that am, I dig how the artists flipped a fight term into music. Many use their talents to get away from a certain environment. So, I appreciate the metaphor used with this title. This is only one of the many bangers on the upcoming Diaz Brothers! Support the team at Bandcamp, YouTube, and all other digital stores. Can’t thank you enough for coming through. Blessings from the Most High to you and yours!
