Seven Fifty-Seven: A Gem By Jeff Smith

If it’s your first time, Rhyme All Night is about spreading positive energy. Particularly, that energy comes from independent artists. Though, this brother is respected and recognized, I feel what he’s done deserves more recognition.

Jeff Smith delivered a documentary focused on the Hip Hop influencers in his town and surrounding areas of Portsmouth, Virginia. Rich in soul, Rich N Spirit, not just a brand. This doc yields off the market sweat equity from a decorated roster. Naming Lunatic, Tony Hustle, Bless Picasso, Young X, Biggz, plus appearances from Duck Blazemore. Safe to say, Black Pentagon.

This was not the first movie release from Jeff, he acted in a a self funded film before. Now, his new title sits at IMDb. Pull up this link and show some support for one our own like you would for someone famous!

Eternal Peace: That Blessed Girl

There are no fancy words or clever phrases. Another All Nighter has left Earth. I want to say some words for our sister, That Blessed Girl. Better known by her family as, Chenika Bowens. We met through the music. She heard about the articles I wrote for artist. I remember her polite introduction, then she sent me Snowy Nights a stand out single featuring Sam Poetry.

From then, we were cool. Convos about dieting, mostly and her old school musical influences. Occasionally, she would mention the pain or weakness dealing with illness. Still, Chenika was strong and always productive. I didn’t have the everyday communication with her, it still hurt when I found out she transitioned. It hurts typing this thinking about it. I thank the Lord I got to know her and witness her accomplish her musical goals. In a short period of time, her beats were in demand. The songs were in rotation. Peace and love to Chenika “That Blessed Girl” Bowens! May her soul rest eternally!

Cocareef – Fruit Loop Killer

This is a league of trend setters, dedicated to their craft. There’s a climbing amount of artists that go unnoticed for doing things a famous person gets praised for. We witness some of the greatest branding strategies.

Fortunately one of those strategist, Cocareef provided us with an early listen to his latest album. Bouncing back from hospital scare, he continued to deliver albums for treasured emcees. Now, it’s all about displaying skill with superior beat selection. Each track is from Potz Lawrence with collective versatility.

A line that sticks out to me. Reef says, “I Keep one eye open like a broke Corvette.” That’s from Hurt Me, which is one of my favorites along with Reverse Ethics and Yea Yea Yeah. Cocareef is accompanied by some select features. You’ll hear vocals from Ambishouz on several tunes. The other feature is from Mally Corleone, on a unique promo track. Reef gives us his signature street anthem approach. He also has the witty lines for lyrical fans, metaphoric subjects and something for the ladies. Slide to cocareef.com for your copy.

Thanks for staying up with me. Peace and prosperity!

Iverson And Stackhouse – Glue Hefner x Big V Skyzone

The duo. Something that’s played an important role in Hip Hop, as well as the NBA. I always thought the two had a duo connection, themselves. Tonight’s theme fuses basketball and Hip Hop in a team effort.

Glue Hefner and Big V run with the monikers of Allen Iverson and Jerry Stackhouse. They relate by state origin, plus skillset. The high volume Iverson of VA represented by Glue and aggressive attack by Stack of NC represented by Big V. There’s some clever ball player puns from Hef trailing from song to song. He said, “You know what’s out, but wait on the sh___ I’m making fam. More smashes than Wilt when the sh___ I got in the chamber land (Chamberlain).” V also brings some hooper wordplay. However, one of my favorite lines from him, “I’m up with the roosters, puffing on Buhda, before Covid came I was dapping up shooters.”

Shout to the producers providing that background variety. Papoe The King, Shawn Finesse, Serious Beats, Q Mark, and Collin B. Some of my favorite tunes are Isolation, Time Out and Man To Man. Each joint got lines I wanna quote, I’ll let the listeners discover. An album from a pair of rapper’s rappers. So, the creative bars and energy will be appreciated. Physicals are available, I got a copy. Contact Big V for yours. Thanks for staying up with me. Bless you!
